Formula:
Al1.25-2Si1-1.2O5.0-0.3H2O
Colour:
brown to light brown
Reported as "Mineral 3"; compositionally very variable. Forms felted patches.
Found in quartz-muscovite-biotite-garnet-staurolite-sillimanite gneisses, together with 'UM1983-20-SiO:AlH' ("Mineral 1") and 'UM1983-19-SiO:AlH' ("Mineral 2").
Occurrence of these three phases is supposed to confirm the multi-stage formation of
sillmanite from kaolinite.
