The authors suggest the phase to be a product of ianthinite alteration, although its macroscopic colour and X-Ray diffraction powder pattern are quite similar. The phase under study contains only a trace of tetravalent uranium (at the time of the phase description ianthinite was suggested to contain only tetravalent uranium, which was later proved to be wrong) and differs in optical properties.

Suggested as a polymorph of paraschoepite, which existence is in doubt; PXRD also differs from that of metaschoepite and paulscherrerite. Compare 'UM1955-04-OH:U'.
