A synonym of Grimaldiite
Common mis-spelling of grimaldiite. Also, a mineral thought to be new species related to or equivalent to grimaldiite (Frondel, 1972; Milton, et al., 1967). "An oxide of zinc and chromium in the Spinel Group, recently found as a new mineral from Guyana. Evidence for the existence of this compound at Sterling Hill was found in 1952 by chemists of the N. J. Zinc Company, but lack of sufficient material prevented a complete study. Found as tiny reddish-brown octahedrons in the insoluble residue of marble at the margarite occurrence at Sterling Hill [Frondel, 1972]." Later, Milton, et al. (1976) reported the Sterling Hill mineral was a zincian gahnite.
