Coal blend, in Norwegian, kullblende, is a complex of carbon-hydrogen-compounds with traces of nitrogen and sulphur. Probably a variety of Pyrobitumen.

The name is used since Schumacher (1801) as a designation for an "anthracite"-like mineraloid of hydrothermal origin that occurs in the Kongsberg Silver Mines in Norway, and closeby, near and inside the Oslo Region (a graben area) in Precambrian, Cambro-Silurian and Permian rocks.

Composition in weight per cent:
C 95-80, O 6-2, H 3-1, N 0.7-0.2. S 0.4 and ashes 4-0.1 (Dons 1956).
