About Papikeite Root Name Group
Formula:
NaB2+2(C2+3Al2)(Si5Al3)O22(OH)2
The papikeite minerals are orthorhombic amphiboles in the magnesium-iron-manganese amphibole subgroup defined with A(Na+K+2Ca)>0.5 apfu and C(Al+Fe3++2Ti)>1 apfu.
The individual minerals are defined based on their dominant elements in the B, C2+ and C3+ positions.
The individual minerals are defined based on their dominant elements in the B, C2+ and C3+ positions.
Papikeite root name is established in accordance with the root-name rules of the IMA2012 amphibole nomenclature and replaces the use of "sodic"-prefix for gedrite minerals.
