Originally described from Valenciana Mine, Guanajuato, Mun. de Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico.

In a study on the order/disorder relationships among K-feldspars of K-rich feldspar, Sánchez-Muñoz et al. (2013) suggest that valencianite may be an additional mineral species in the K-feldspars group.
