Name:
Name given by Forbes & Dahll (1855) to a brown mineral from "Nöterö" island in the Arendal-Kragerø area, Norway. Named after Urðr (Urd) or Urda ("fate" in old Norse), one of the 3 Norns deciding the fates of people in the Norse mythology.
It was later shown to be monazite. Brøgger (1906) p.17 gives Narestø, Arendal, Aust-Agder as the locality.
