Named in honour of William Hyde Wollaston (6 August 1766, East Dereham, Norfolk, England, UK - 22 December 1828, London, England, UK), English chemist and mineralogist who discovered palladium (1804) and rhodium (1809) and invented the reflecting goniometer (1809) and the camera lucida (1812).
