Name:
Not published but seemingly named in honor of the French geologist and mineralogist, André-Jean-François-Marie Brochant de Villiers [August 6, 1772 Mantes-la-Ville, Yvelines, France - May 16, 1840 Paris, France] and a crystallographic relationship to brochantite.
Identical with MDO1 polytype of brochantite and therefore discredited in 2009. The original description was never published.
