Name:
The name was introduced by Michel (1893) for a mineral from Ødegården Apatite Mines, Bamble, Norway. Named after Paul-Gabriel Hautefeuille (1836-1902), professor of mineralogy at the Sorbonne, Paris, France. Later, Barth (1937) showed it to be identical with bobierrite.
