{Na}{Ca2}{Fe2+4Fe3+}(Al2Si6O22)(OH)2
Name:
Named after the Hudson River, New York, since it was found in proximity to that waterway.
Synonym:
A synonym of Hastingsite
Initially believed to be a separate amphibole species. The discovery of hastingsite in Canada resulted in Hudsonite being characterized as that species. Most recently, additional study of the "type specimen" by officials of the New York State Museum indicates that this material is a potassic-hastingsite (Rochester Mineralogical Symposium, April 2007).
