A redefinition by Kunz in 1892 (possibly a misunderstanding) of the original name Sagenite as defined by Saussure to refer to a variety of rutile - see also Sagenite (of Saussure) and Rutilated Quartz - a more common modern name to refer to Quartz containing acicular rutile inclusions.
"Sagenite – Penetrated with acicular crystals of other minerals, generally rutile, tourmaline, goethite, stibnite, asbestus, actinolite, hornblende, epidote, etc."
