About Crazy Calcite
Formula:
CaCO3
A locally applied name in the Franklin, NJ, area for massive calcite that fluoresces two shades and intensities of red under SW UV. The disparity in fluorescence is due to isolated blebs of calcite and a more dolomitic material, both bearing manganese, but fluorescing different colours.
