From the Greek for "thread" in allusion to its structure.
A fibrous variety of brucite said to contain FeO. Occurs in fibres or laths, usually elongated along [1010], but sometimes [1120].

Originally described from Castle Point, Hoboken, Hudson Co., New Jersey, USA.
