About AdinoleHide

A compact, fine-grained albite-rich metasomatic rock. It has a splintery fracture, commonly with a finely banded aspect due to alternating grey, green or reddish layers of variable colour intensity. It is composed of a fine to very fine grained mosaic of albite and subordinate quartz with minor amounts of other consitutents. Chemically it contains up to 10% by weight of soda. Adinolization is thought to be a Na-metasomatic process related to the intrusion of mafic igneous rocks into pelitic rocks.
