Name:
After Heinrich Laubmann, German mineralogist.
Originally described from Shady, Polk County, Arkansas, by Frondel (1949).
Discredited in 1990 by Dunn because the type material was determined to be a mixture of dufrenite, kidwellite and beraunite.

See, however, Laubmannite (of Moore), which is an unnamed possible species originally described by Moore (1970).
