Name:
Name introduced by Breithaupt (1865) for a mineral from Naujakasik(?), Greenland. He thought that aenigmatite, which he described at the same time, was a pseudomorph after kölbingite. The two minerals were later showed to be identical. Name after Mr. Kölbing of Herrnhut, which he obtained the material from.
