Comments:Locally abundant in gangue.
Luminescent properties:The quartz formed from a noncrystalline precursor is characterized by a short-lived (<60 s) dark-blue optical CL emission. During continued electron bombardment, the emission changes to a reddish-brown color. Complex yellow and brown zoning patterns are common. The zones may be kinked, wavy, or irregular and are commonly not parallel to crystal faces (Fig. 6F). The short-lived yellow and brown CL emission fades to a long-lived reddish brown during continued electron bombardment.
