"Ilmenite is the dominant mineral in only a few cavities and is usually less prominent than andesine and augite. It generally forms thin, lustrous, black, hexagonal platy crystals up to 0.5 cm across but twinning may give rise to 'saw toothed' and spear shaped forms. The crystals usually show growth lines on their flat faces."
