Original descriptions by Bowen (1822) match the occurrence of scheelite associated with pseudomorphs of ferberite after scheelite unique to Lane's Mine of Trumbull, also worked at the time by Ephraim Lane. Samples were sold and shipped to Silliman, he did not collect them. Origin was eventually cleared up by Hitchcock and Silliman (1826).
