| Species: | Botallackite | |
| Formula: | Cu2(OH)3Cl | |
| Comments: | See kapellasite. Initially all crystals of similar chemical composition from this mine were labeled as botallackite, but later it was discovered that they were actually a new mineral: kapellasite. Since its discovery all analyses showed that the crystals considered to be botallackite were actually kapellasite. However on a specimen discovered by Mr. Heinz Fabritz some crystals resembling well crystallized kapellasite were analyzed and found to be true botallackite with a distinguishing Zn:Cu ratio of 1:9, which is nowhere near that necessary to for kapellasite (1:3). | |
