Garnets from the nearby Frøyså 3 quarry has been analyzed and found to be a spessartine with a significant almandine content(Larsen 1980). No analysis has been done on garnets from Frøyså 1
Habit:
Dark crystals with high lustre. Size up to minimum 4 cm. The garnets are found in feldspar, smokey quartz and inbetween biotite sheets. The latter ones are normally flattened.
