Chondrodite has been found in several of the quarries in this limestone, both as isolated grains and rounded crystals embedded in the limestone itself or as granular masses in the contact zone. The crystals are either yellow or reddish brown and not significantly larger than 0.5 cm. They are normally poorly formed, and 19th century scientists had difficulties in accurately measuring the crystal angles. Granular masses up to 50 x 70 cm have been recorded
