Comments:The presence of a "blixite-like mineral" found at Merehead Quarry in the Mendips (often labelled as blixite) was subsequently confirmed to be the new mineral, mereheadite. The presence of blixite in the Mendips must be considered doubtful.
Analysis of a large number of specimens (see Turner and Rumsey 2010) failed to find a single (genuine) specimen of blixite from anywhere in the Mendips, including Merehead. Most of the yellow material thought to be blixite is in fact paralaurionite.
