Comments:First found in the mid-1950s and so often unrecognized in earlier collections, topaz occurs rarely as equant, rhombic cross-section crystals up to 1 cm in the cavities or more commonly up to 5.6 cm embedded in quartz-albite-muscovite matrix. Greasy, orange-brown crystals are partially or wholly altered to muscovite and were earlier mistaken for "pinite" pseudomorphs after spodumene.
