Comments:Analysis of multiple samples of chrome-ore from Woods Mine are all well within the magnesiochromite composition space. See Pearre and Heyl. (Pearre, Nancy C., and Allen Van Heyl. Chromite and other mineral deposits in serpentine rocks of the Piedmont Upland, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware. No. 1082. US Government Printing Office, 1960.)


Chromite, the Major ore at Wood's Mine. By 1874 report, Chromite production in PA was already waining, however the production to date at Wood's Mine of 120,000 tons, exceeded 20 times the production of all other PA chomite mining localities combined.
