Comments:Molybdenite fills a dense network of irregular fissures and veins of a highly weathered, reddish, microgranular granite with black or dark brown patches, embedded in the pegmatite. The close connection with the pegmatite is often evident even at the specimen scale.

Individual laminae can reach 3–4 cm in length, are very thin (0.1–1 mm), and lack crystallographic boundaries. The mineral often partially or completely replaces large augite and biotite crystals. Molybdenite has a high Re content (70 ppm) and does not contain W.
Quality for species:Poor for species, only of interest for locality collectors. (#)
