Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.
'Taramite Root Name Group' (not an IMA approved species)
Formula:
A(CaNa)(C32+C23+)(Al2Si6O22)W2
Comments:
The amphibole is reported as "taramite" by Wang et al. (2021) but without any supporting analysis. The geological environment ( alkaline intrusion) and the reported inclusions of magnetite in the "taramite" indicates that the actual mineral might rather be ferro-ferri-taramite than taramite which normally occurs in eclogites.
