Tenorite from
Hay Gill Copper Mine, Roughton Gill, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England, UK

Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Tenorite
Formula:CuO
Comments:Cooper & Stanley (1990): "Listed as 'melaconite' by Greg & Lettsom (1858); also identified by Davidson & Thomson (1951)."

Bridges et al. (2011): "Gregg and Lettsom (1858) record tenorite from Hay Gill, but at that time it would not have been possible to definitely identify the mineral. It has not been found in this study and it seems preferable not to include it in the list of minerals for the site."
