Comments:"A striking brown clinopyroxene, with a silky luster, collected at the Strickland quarry, gives an X-ray pattern closer to fassaite than diopside or augite. As learned from similar material, at the railroad cut two miles west, the surficial alteration is a smectite, corroborating the aluminum content. Fassaite also accompanies zoisite, quite abundantly, at ledges immediately west of the Strickland quarry." Schooner (circa 1985).
