The Indian Navy has invited applications from unmarried eligible men and women for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Executive Branch (Information Technology) under the Special Naval Orientation Course commencing from January 2027 at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala.

Indian Navy Technical Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

  • Unmarried men and women candidates.
  • Must fulfill the nationality conditions as laid down by the Government of India.
  • Candidates who have graduated/post-graduated or are in the final year (regular/integrated course) are eligible.

Important Notes:

  • The degree must be from a recognized university/institution as per Government of India norms.
  • No other equivalent streams will be accepted.
  • Final year students are eligible to apply but must submit proof of 60% marks by the deadline.

NCC Relaxation: Candidates holding NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Naval/Army/Air Wing) with minimum ‘B’ Grade, who have served at least two academic years in the Senior Division and whose certificate is not dated prior to 01 January 2024, will get 5% relaxation in cut-off marks for SSB shortlisting.

Indian Navy Technical Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting : Based on normalized marks obtained in the qualifying degree (using the normalization formula available on the Indian Navy website). For BE/B.Tech candidates, marks up to 5th semester are considered. For PG courses, all semesters or up to pre-final year (for final year students) are considered.
  2. SSB Interview : Shortlisted candidates will be called for SSB interview. Call-up letters will be sent via email/SMS.
  3. Medical Examination : Candidates recommended by SSB will undergo medical examination as per Indian Navy standards.
  4. Final Merit List : Prepared on the basis of SSB marks. Appointment is subject to police verification, character verification, and availability of vacancies.

Key Points:

  • Change of SSB centre or date is not allowed.
  • AC 3-tier rail fare is admissible for the first-time SSB appearance.
  • Mere inclusion in the merit list does not guarantee appointment.

Training

  • Selected candidates will be inducted in the rank of Sub Lieutenant.
  • They will undergo six weeks Naval Orientation Course at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala.
  • This will be followed by professional training at Naval Ships and training establishments.
  • Candidates must remain unmarried during training. Marriage during training leads to discharge and refund of all pay & allowances and training expenses.

Terms of Service

  • Short Service Commission: Initially for 10 years, extendable by maximum 04 years (in two terms of 2 years each), subject to service requirement, performance, and medical fitness.
  • No option for Permanent Commission under this entry.
  • Officers will not be permitted to leave before 10 years except in exceptional circumstances.

Probation Period

  • 2 years from the date of grant of Sub Lieutenant rank or completion of initial training (whichever is later).

Indian Navy Technical Recruitment 2026 Salary Structure

  • Basic Pay of Sub Lieutenant starts from Rs. 56,100/- plus other allowances as admissible.
  • Officers are compulsorily members of the Naval Group Insurance Scheme (NGIS).

  2. Keep ready all relevant documents (Matriculation certificate details, Aadhaar Card, marksheets, CGPA conversion formula, NCC certificate if applicable, passport-size photograph).
  3. Scan documents in JPG/TIFF format.
  4. Fill personal particulars exactly as per Matriculation Certificate.
  5. Upload all required documents. Illegible documents will lead to rejection.
  6. Submit the application. Once submitted, no changes/amendments are allowed.
  7. Take a printout of the application to carry for the SSB interview.

Note: Only one application is allowed. Multiple applications will result in cancellation of candidature.

General Instructions

  • Use/Possession of narcotics is strictly banned; candidates may be tested.
  • Candidature can be cancelled at any stage if false information is found.
  • All candidates recommended by SSB must undergo medical examination at designated centres. No relaxation in medical standards is given.
