Half-Life

Half-Life

Will we ever get Half-Life: Decay on steam?
I think valve has a oppurtunity to use nostalgia to make money. Then again, wasn't decays whole thing that its a ps exclusive? What do you think?

I would like Decay to come to Steam. I played it on PS2 and I liked the experience of the two scientists fighting together. Crowbar Collective has the magic, they can do it. It's only a matter of taking an interest in Decay. When that happens, we should get this chapter of the story.

I hope it releases for its 25th anniversary, even though there are no mentions of it. If they plan on doing that they could include some bonus content, like the cut chapter which explains aprehension.
I mean there's already 2008 mod where it ports Decay to PC, fan port, https://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-decay , or wait for Solo Mission to release which is fan remake of Decay where you play singleplayer, one issue with Solo Mission, they only made 4/9 chapters, or 4/10 if including Xen Attacks, https://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-decay-solo-mission .
I don't think it'll ever happen. The PS2 version used a lot of unique assets that aren't in the PC version, so they'd have to port all the assets. And if you wanted to make a PC version using the old assets, that's pretty much the territory of modding, so I doubt they would do that either. Unofficially though, I'm pretty sure modders are going to port all of it.
Would Valve have to settle with Gearbox for that?

This wouldn't be an impossible task to port the PS2 version but they already have the original on Steam.

We can only hope that we will get a hl:decay port. I really wanna play it, but the solo mod is unfinished (for a good reason). Is there a way to play the original game solo, but as a seperate game (the custom game feature)?

This is sad because of irl issues the mod author has...

You can still play Decay on the PS2 in solo by swapping characters.
Yes. İts a mod. İts called by Half Lide Decay Solo Mission. You can play on Steam

It's only a demo so far. Development is in indefinite hiatus.

While you're right you can find a way to play it (I can't really say that out loud).

I mean depending on your hardware you could probably run it in an emulator like PCSX2, that would probably be the easiest option other than using the incomplete mod.

This is the kind of thing we shouldn't talk about.

Technically no it's not. The ripped ROMs are the legally sketchy portion, emulators are usually perfectly legal.
Let's just say I would be extremely impressed if Valve went to such lengths as to port the PS2 stuff themselves... hence why I doubt they'll ever do it, lol. Seems like recently they're becoming less and less of a game development studio and more of just... Steam cashcow management.

I did like how you could run games from your PS2 discs on your computer if you have a drive.

The other tricky part is getting the Bios.

Never played the mod. I heard they change the gameplay and add stuffs like the displacement gun so I'm not really into that.
I don't recall it in Solo Mission.
