The Japanese diaspora is made up of Japanese people who have emigrated (moved to another country) from Japan and their descendants. People who are part of the Japanese diaspora are known as Nikkei or Nikkeijin, which means “people of Japanese lineage” in Japanese. Large populations of Nikkei exist in Brazil and America, with smaller groups in Peru and the UK.
