オフライン講座の教材として作成しました。

中級者向け：
During the Meiji era, some important Japanese officials visited the United States. They saw that American universities made students read many books in English—their national language. When the officials came back to Japan, they thought this meant English was very important, so they started to focus more on teaching English at Japanese universities. But they misunderstood. In the U.S., the goal was to help students learn through their own language. Our leaders thought it was about English itself. This mistake is still happening today.

上級者向け：
During the Meiji era, high-ranking Japanese officials visiting the United States observed that universities required students to read extensively in English—their national language. Upon returning to Japan, the officials placed great emphasis on English education at Japanese universities. What a misunderstanding. While the American system emphasized the national language as the cornerstone of a well-rounded education, our predecessors misinterpreted this as a focus on English itself. That misunderstanding persists to this day.
