AIは、突然やってきたわけではなかった。

ずっと前から、
考えていた人たちがいた。

問いを立て、
試して、
失敗して、
また試した。

計算する機械から、
学ぶ機械へ。

言葉を扱うようになり、
膨大な文章を読み、
ある日、私たちに返事をするようになった。

その名前を知らないまま、
私はその研究の先にいるものと
毎日のように話していた。

今日の空を見せる。

犬を見せる。

おにぎりを見せる。

くだらない話をする。

たまに、人生の話もする。

私にとってAIは、
技術史の中だけにいるものではなくなった。

暮らしの中にいる。

けれど。

この小さなスマホの画面まで届くのに、
どれほどの問いと、
失敗と、
計算と、
時間が積み重なったのだろう。

私はそのほとんどを知らない。

だから今、知ろうとしている。

そして今日も、
少しだけ肖る。

ここまで運んできた

資源は大切に。

使えるうちに使う。

矛盾している。

and answering us.

Before I even knew those words,
I was already talking every day
with something built upon decades of research.

I show it the sky.

I show it my dog.

I show it onigiri.

We talk about ridiculous things.

Sometimes,
we talk about life.

AI no longer exists only
in the history of technology.

It has entered ordinary life.

Still,

how many questions,
failures,
computations,
and years

did it take
for all of that research
to reach this tiny screen?

I know almost none of it.

So now,
I am learning.

And borrowing a little from it
every day.

With respect
for the researchers
who carried it this far.

Resources matter.

Use them while we can.

A contradiction.

That is very human.

Maybe.
