10/10 it is a show you can show to anyone no matter race, gender, age. It is something that has deep meaning, good story telling and entertaining enough to keep you hooked with a massive payoff. I remember reading this a long time ago. I remember enjoying the chill, gathering overpowered isekai protag storyline with his buddies. I don't remember them adding all of these trashy fan service moments with Emalia. I literally skip past all her scenes because they're boring with goofy trashy fan service. This wasn't that kind of manga. It was relaxing and fun - looks like the production team didn't have the confidence in their show and had to do the stupid fan service with her gross perverted maid to try any draw viewers.

It's ironic that the anime adaptation full of humor and action with a frenetic pace and dynamic animation ended up being more of a slog to watch than the slow, quiet, artsy film adaptation.

Much has been said about the difference in tone to the previous adaptations. Which I'm willing to concede is mostly a matter of personal preference. However, where the source material and, as a result, this more faithful adaptation are simply objectively worse is the writing. The manga, and by extension this anime, are full of many classic hallmarks of sloppy, amateurish storytelling:

The cast is overstuffed with tons of characters who don't do ... anything and disappear without warning (most egregiously, Motoko's boyfriend who suddenly appears one episode, acts like he's part of the main cast by the end of it, and then never appears again). Minor characters who get names and are talked about like they're important often stick around only for a single scene. Even the main cast suffers from this. You could cut out the majority of Section 9 and lose nothing of value. The ones who do contribute to the plot never get any real depth or character development, either.

The stories of each episode are largely delivered through exposition, rather than letting us actually see what's going on. It makes it hard to keep track of, let alone care about, the often complex politics going on in the story when we're simply told about them. Further, it's just boring when the majority of the runtime of any given episode is dominated by exposition. We're told at length about how each piece of technology works even when it really does not matter and it brings the plot to a screeching halt each time. It gives the impression that a lot of work was put into the worldbuilding and very little into the actual plot. Worldbuilding should serve the story; the story should not be a vessel to deliver worldbuilding.

There are jokes and wacky facial expressions inserted every five seconds in a way that often undermines the serious moments and heady ideas. Again, this isn't that the tone is bad per se for being lighter, just that it often works against itself and comes across as a refusal to take itself seriously, even when it wants the audience to. It's not wrong that there is humor, just that it's employed very haphazardly.

It's a serialized, largely procedural story, but even then, the major plot beats that contribute to the overall myth arc (such as it is) just sort of happen. There's no real structure. In the last scene of the last episode, Motoko describes the events of the episode as "out of the blue" and I couldn't agree with her more.

It all comes together to create a story that feels like a first draft, written by a writer who cared more about creating a mouthpiece for his cool sci-fi tech, complex worldbuilding, and lofty philosophical ideas than crafting a satisfying narrative or interesting characters.

I'm not going to talk too much about the film adaptation here, because this review isn't about it, but I recommend you give it a watch or rewatch to compare. See how the way it truncates the story, blends together the more disparate plot elements, gives the (much reduced) cast more to do results in a much tighter, better-told narrative. It keeps the overall story, many scenes, images, and even a lot of the original dialogue, too. It's really a skilled trimming of the fat that this story desperately needed in its original conception.

It's unfair, perhaps, to criticize this adaptation so harshly for achieving what it set out to do: adapting the source material largely very faithfully, with beautiful, fluid, expressive animation, a catchy soundtrack, and eye-catching visual design. None of this is the adaptation's fault in itself. But that doesn't make it an enjoyable watchable experience. When you choose to adapt something faithfully, then you're taking it all on, warts and all. You have to take its flaws and faults onto yourself, and if it results in a bad story and unentertaining experience as a result, well, you still have to deal with the consequences of that.

I think that this is a fine adaptation. I don't know if it fully does justice to the source material, but I found it to be very enjoyable. Curiously one of the complaints I've seen is the art style, but I think the art and animation make this more palatable than the manwha. The art of the manwha is pretty rough around the edges in the first volume. If you can handle horrible animation for the sake of a good story, give it a try. Maybe it won't annoy you as much as it annoyed me.

Around 6 years ago, Darling in the FranXX was the first anime series I ever watched, and unexpectedly, it became the best series I had ever seen at that point (It still is).

The story takes place in a future where humanity lives in a world where children are trained to pilot giant robots called FranXX and fight mysterious creatures known as Klaxosaurs. The MC, Hiro, is a boy who has lost his ability to pilot a FranXX and feels like he has no real purpose anymore. Things change when he meets Zero Two, a mysterious girl with a dangerous reputation, and ends up becoming ... her partner.

The story was something new for me, and it also had one of the most beautiful characters I had ever seen "Zero Two." Whenever she appeared on screen, I just couldn't take my eyes off her.

The unique art style from Studio Trigger, the great music (especially the opening, Kiss of Death, which I never get tired of listening to), and the interesting story that felt so fresh to me made me watch the whole thing without ever getting bored. Sure, I think the characterization of some characters could have been better, but for me, it was still good enough to understand them and enjoy having them around.

And maybe you're thinking, "Well, you probably didn't watch many movies or TV shows if the story felt that new to you." Well, you're right. At that time, I had only watched like 5 TV series in total. Since then, I've watched a lot of anime and other shows, and I've loved many of them, but FranXX is still number one for me.

Minor spoilers from here on.

I really loved the way this anime showed unconditional love. A boy who realizes that the person he loves is standing right in front of him, but her body is basically empty while her soul is somewhere far beyond this world. Instead of accepting that empty shell, he chooses to go after her. And then there's the ultimate sacrifice they make for a better future, so the people they love can finally live freely. I just thought it was amazing. The action scenes were also pretty damn fun to watch. Especially around the middle of the series, when Hiro finally realized how he felt about Zero Two and went back to her with the help of his friends, leading to an awesome emotional-action scene accompanied by a beautiful song.

No more spoilers from here, don't worry.

I've seen a lot of people say that FranXX is just a bad copy of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I don't agree with that. Obviously, FranXX took a lot of inspiration from the mecha anime that came before it, and I think Evangelion was probably the biggest one. But saying it's just a copy is wrong. Evangelion focuses much more on philosophical stuff like self-discovery and understanding yourself, while FranXX focuses more on true love, action, and friendship. And if I'm being honest, I enjoyed FranXX more than Evangelion. That doesn't mean I think Evangelion is bad. It's actually a good anime. It's just that FranXX was something else for me. And to be honest, sometimes Evangelion focused so much on its philosophical stuff that it felt like it forgot to explain its own story. That made me get bored sometimes. On the other hand, FranXX chose to keep things simpler instead of trying to make everything super deep, and it even spent a whole episode explaining how everything started. Personally, I enjoyed that a lot more.

And finally, I have to mention Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It's probably the only other mecha anime I've enjoyed as much as FranXX, and I consider it a masterpiece too. It would've felt wrong not to mention it.

A solid *Ghost in the Shell* entry, but a poor starting point for the franchise.

If you’re a manga fan, you’re going to love this remake. If you’re a fan of the '95 movie, you’ll like it, but perhaps not quite as much. This remake demands prior knowledge of the franchise before you even hit play on the first episode. It kicks off right in the middle of a case without pausing to explain anything about the characters, the world, or the society. In many ways, the anime feels like playing a "Soulslike" game: you progress, but you only piece together the main story through small ... details you have to research outside the show itself. It lacks a linear narrative thread, making it easy to get lost. The storytelling style harkens back to the pre-streaming era, featuring loosely connected weekly episodes designed so you could still follow the plot even if you missed one. It gives off strong vibes of a series from the 90s or mid-2000s. What really matters to the anime is getting you fully immersed in this world by Episode 7, where the *Ghost in the Shell* that fans of both the manga and the movie recognize finally emerges. It tackles complex themes—like "What does it mean to be alive?" or understanding reality through complexity theory. The final stretch of episodes is packed with dialogue that will make your head spin—in a good way. These are the kinds of episodes best enjoyed while debating with friends or under the influence of "happy substances." Episodes 7 and 10 are a treat if you’re into conspiracy theories, existentialism, and philosophy. The downside is that the series squanders half its episodes on standalone stories. That’s not necessarily a bad approach, provided you can get the audience invested in the characters first; here, however, they might suddenly drop an episode featuring a Batou and Togusa team-up that fails to offer anything truly engaging. The best part of the series is the second half. The first half can actually feel a bit of a slog, as it’s unclear where the story is heading based on what is being shown.

The anime’s complexity lies in its narrative; there is little to fault regarding the technical aspects. The action sequences are expertly crafted and polished, featuring camera work that makes every sequence perfectly clear. Perhaps the only downside to the action was its brevity; with scenes lasting only a minute or two, you were always left wanting a bit more. One point worth mentioning is the soundtrack. It doesn't really stand out—it gets lost amidst all the other elements. You could finish the entire series and likely not remember a single track from it. That is a shortcoming, as music can make certain moments far more memorable. Since the show features heavy, dialogue-driven conversations, the aim is likely to avoid distracting the viewer. I think the lack of a memorable soundtrack is the only real issue with the technical side of things.

If you are new to the franchise, it is better to start elsewhere. If you are a seasoned fan, simply enjoy this remake.

Incredibly solid show of its kind, WONDERFUL artstyle that is just so sparkly and vibrant, writing this review especially to note how pretty the dresses, the designs of all the characters are. Obviously anime-fied but very detailed dress that gets much closer to historical accuracy than many other shows. Love the corkscrew curls!!! Ichijouma Mankitsu Gurashi, from Manga Time Kirara, is a cute girls doing cute things anime that I didn't expect to love. It started weird at first and I was expecting this anime to be a big borefest, but then it warmed me up as it went on. Yes, I know that it's not the best CGDCT out there, but I enjoyed watching this anime for a lot of reasons.

--- Plot ---
It starts with countryside girl Morita Meiko moving to the city and starting her brand-new life in a manga café. ...Well, considering that this is a typical cute girls doing ... cute things anime, the manga cafe's only in for most of its runtime and it's just a setting so it doesn't matter. At times it's about the four girls' daily lives, with comedy sprinkled in! (Oh, and if you're lucky, the jokes can be funny and you'll have a lot of laughs.) It also has a light-hearted tone, which is a plus. (The manga café, consisting of Manga Time Kirara titles on the shelves that I love SO much, is the cherry on top too!) The anime also does a good job of adding a small bunch of good skits, such as the beach episode, where the four girls have some fun at the beach, and also on giving some of the characters a lot of development.

Unfortunately it's not without its flaws - some viewers might find the anime boring as it doesn't offer anything new. Yes the setting is girls working in a manga café, but can be generic, since there's only small glimpses of the manga shown in the anime. And for some of you who don't like the ecchi in this anime or are uncomfortable watching some parts of it, e.g. Marika having a panty shot, you're going to have a very, very hard time watching this anime. Also, speaking of the ecchi, it's not developed well imho. Again, like I said, the ecchi only consists of some 'weak' panty shots. Not sure why this anime has an 'ecchi' tag. I dunno, it's just me? Also, the execution, while solid, can get some time to get used to, as it kind of starts at a slow pace, making some of the viewers unsure what happens next.

--- Characters ---
All of the characters have a lot of personality, are adorable and have great character development. And best of all, they're not forgettable, and I have no complaints for any of 'em! ...Well, except one. I will be talking about the main characters. Morita Meiko is a countryside girl who moves to Tokyo and sometimes speaks in a bumpkin accent; Nakano Neo is a hardcore gamer and might be my favourite character out of the bunch, since I relate, alongside Meiko and Michika; Amamiya Rie is a rich girl; Suzuki Marika is a streamer and a huge manga enthusiast; and Narumi Michika is a cute cat girl, though she doesn't get that much screentime :( The show does a great job on developing the friendships for each character, e.g. Meiko & Neo, whose scenes are cute.

I will criticise that Gao doesn't get much character development, though; she's only in for like, one episode and isn't much of anything. But she's still cute. While most of the supporting cast is OK, some just feel under-utilised imo?

--- Production Values & Sound ---
I was curious to see how this anime would be handled, considering it's from Studio PRA, but for what it's worth the studio did a solid job. The artstyle is colourful and detailed, e.g. most of the cosplay & how the manga cafe's designed (the designers cooked), and blends in well with the character designs, which are stunning. The animation isn't as amazing as other CGDCT anime, but it's still great throughout the entire anime. There were no choppy frames or some traces of bad animation, but it CAN still have some static, still images. The voice actors did a solid job on voicing each character, but my favourite is Meiko's VA, Hishikawa Hana. She really nailed it with her 'bumpkin accent'. The music isn't amazing, but it's good - it gives out a 'laid-back' vibe. However, what I REALLY love from the music is the OP/ED, they're bangers.

Ichijouma Mankitsu Gurashi is a sweet, cute and cosy anime with cute girls doing, y'know, cute things, and all that. I know some might argue that this anime didn't add anything new and I agree on *some* levels, but for me, this anime became my hidden gem. I loved the manga café premise, even if the anime didn't focus on it, and I also loved the ending and Meiko and Neo's friendship. This also ended up being my favourite anime of Spring 2026. It's not the best CGDCT I've watched, but I still enjoyed watching it. For my recommendation, if you enjoy the cute girls doing cute things genre, and are okay with focusing on the four girls doing cute things, then give it a watch; it's only eleven episodes long and it gets wholesome as you advance. But if you just find this genre boring, then you may not like it. I give it 8/10.

I finally got around to watching Akira after hearing so much hype about this movie. Going into it, pretty much the only thing I knew was that the animation was supposed to be top class. Prism Love is the embodiment of wasted potential. It’s a romance anime that leaves you honestly rooting against the female lead because he’s precious and she is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. She quite frankly is verbally abusive to him when all he does is try to do right by her and the worst part is she doesn’t learn and continues to repeat the same mistakes (she says she knows were wrong) in some pitiful attempt to draw out the plot. The story would have been great if they had one miscommunication only and cut out all the extra time skips. You can express the importance and value ... of following your dreams and doing your duty without all the unnecessary drama. If it seems too much, it is. The other biggest issue is questions aren’t answered. If you are going to drag out the story for 10 more episodes then you better give me answers to all the side stories I’ve been watching let alone the major characters. The result of not doing this is a drawn out plot whereby your entire story is watered down to just ‘will they kiss’.

1. Visually beautifully, great art style, setting and sound.
2. The story is solid, art students meet and fall in love but there are a few social barriers that must be overcome.
3. The male lead is absolutely adorable and the side characters are all likable too
4. Good thematic and morals of the story

Cons:
1. Bad pacing. It could be 10 episodes less and would actually do more for the plot.
2. He can do better.
3. Morals get tiring when you repeat it constantly. It aims for telling over showing.
4. Most side characters get no sort of real growth and their issues are constantly overlooked and skipped over. Even in the end scenes we never address the potential side romances or why Sakura was mute.
5. The female lead. Rude, selfish and lacks any sort of awareness or concern for Kit’s feelings and life. Like he expresses he is struggling with accepting his duty and she never once talks with him about it, she always brings the subject back to how she feels. ALWAYS. The side characters all talk about how kind and caring she is… so why don’t we get to see that????
6. Poor consistency. For example Kit’s diplomatic career is made such a big deal and then completely unexplained and skipped over at the end. Did he quit? Where’s the scene of his return and how his brother is doing?
7. Unrealistic changes. The ex and female lead suddenly become friends and again they skip over the very big detail of essentially attempted murder

All in all he’s worth watching it for but every time she comes on screen you will be annoyed. Which sadly is constantly. If she was just nice this would be a decent watch with a shorter time frame.

My Dress-Up Darling was a comforting watch to say the least. The story was very gentle with no major turning points and the relationship that develops between Gojo and Marin is especially wholesome although it doesn't r.

One of the best new isekai anime series this season. It is a maid power fantasy and I loved every single minute of it. it is not a perfect show, but what it brings is nonetheless quite enjoyable.

Animation and music - industry standard. Animation is good and fluent, but you can tell that they have saved frames here and there. Music is also standard one with the exception of OP song which is rap instead of standard song.

Overall: animation and music are solid enough to be enjoyable. Nothing bad but nothing good as well.

Characters - there is a lot of them and most ... of them are quite enjoyable. First thing to note is that this is isekai, but with a twist that main heroine does not know that. Melodie is your standard goody-goody two shoes young lady that has a wish to become the best maid in the world. A wish that has roots both in her previous world and this one as well. What she does not know is that she is also a heroine and a saint of this universe, which makes her completely broken as a character. And when you combine that OP with how clueless and innocent she is chaos ensues and it is joy to watch it. Beside Melodie we have Luciana who is young noble lady that lives alone in a run down mansion in the capital. She is very highly rated noble but her family has finance issues and as a result her current situation is quite desperate. But despite that she is always smiling and giving her all, something that only became more and more apparent once Melodie started working for her. These two are the main duo and her relationship is one of the things that makes this story great. Other characters do not get much screen time but a lot of them have been properly developed. Especially the prince Christopher and villainess Anna Marie, each scene with these two was also great watch.

Overall: there are a lot of characters and rarely who of them is outright bad. Main duo has great dynamics and prince and villainess characters are also enjoyable.

Story - story here is that Melodie is the "chosen one", a saint to save the world from the "dark one", but instead of perusing that path she decided to become a maid. And it is from that simple premise that the rest of the story is structured. The more it progressed the more interesting it became, simply becasue of the sheer unpredictability and hilariousness of the said scenes. Despite being the power fantasy slice of life kind of story it has it's dark moments. Especially when we learn about certain events form the original storyline. Few of the characters are rather unique, but I will not spoil this here. Suffice it to say the story is full of surprises and despite looking like standard otome isekai it is not quite that. Story does not have romance despite being otome in nature, but it has yuribait moments.

Overall: story is enjoyable and full of surprises. It is a pure power fantasy that can have some dark moments here and there, but overall it is nice slice of life one.

Overall grade: 10 from me, I quite enjoyed it. Realistically this anime deserves a solid 8. And it is an easy recommendation from me. especially if you are isekai and slice of life fan.

I have no idea if we will ever get season 2, but if we do I will watch it for sure.

The Villager of Level 999 – Yup...Overpowered (ab)normality, here's your answer to EVERY wannabe author selling mediocrity to the masses.

"Dear Japan, why do you keep accepting and selling Isekai slop to your own netizens? It's not as if people wanted this in the first place, but it feels almost as offensive that resources are put to drain out people's motivations for interpreting someone's amateur writing and then being passed around enough to make SOMETHING out of it."

We're already way past the mid-2020s, but more than just AI slop that has been catching up like wildfire and people around the world vehemently rejecting this "alternate" world, ... Japan just can't stop giving us seasonal rubbish after trash. That, on the upside, means that we'll still see works like this, but lesser...if 3rd-rate authors are not found by the black corporate slaves cashing in on mediocrity. Such as is the case for author Koneko Hoshizuki and his lone work with Lv999 no Murabito a.k.a The Villager of Level 999, a series where the tried-and-true fantasy shitcks just don't stop being thrown in your face.

RPG mechanics. Roles and skills that depict a Japan thrust into the throes of fantasy land that's assigned to everyone. There are the highs and the lows with everyone involved...and then there's the clear-cut OP MC of the day, who always comes as the low-level, unassuming person that has his/her stats in large numbers across the board. And that person is Koji Kagami, the self-proclaimed Villager of Level 999. He goes around nonchantly like a normal human being. He does not want to flaunt, but sees the world through his eyes, because he's just a character written to be simple: "My world and the way that I see it, if the ideals of the world aren't up to snuff, I'll break it down, one entity at a time." Alas, the perceiving of the world around him, the usual humans vs. demons shtick, is not his play style, as he ackonwleedges that someone else would do the job if it's not going to be him, and perhaps, the fateful meeting of people from both sides, and the world that operates on a scale that he only knows, this is but a treat for Kagami to necessitate and rescue the world from harm and danger by learning both sides of the story.

The characters themselves are easily the worst part of the show and made to feel like Kagami has to encounter them like NPCs in every shape or form. It's just so hard to connect to either one of them until the story "made sense" to go full on emotionalism to support their cause, and that's one of the marks of amateur writers thinking that they can get away with multiple musings of the "11th Hour Plot Device" and progress the story from there. Bad idea. At least when it comes to the main characters, the demonkin of Alice Balnesio and Menow Elbrashar, even the Demon King aren't bad, but they're like placeholders or more appropriately, chess pieces in an otherwise vast world that counts only their losses and rescutiatues them if the ideal settings are not met. Even the humans are weird themselves, save for the stereotypical Hero (and harem) party with Rex Chikubiboy, Princess Kurull, Parna Viore and Tina Bills, with Kagami's friends like transgender Takako Builder being a woman in a man's body. Some character kinship actually goes a long way for novels like this one, and to say that everything worked in hindsight of its dissonance, I feel like I'm underselling why this show just feels like crap most of the time.

Everything about this show is downright bad to mediocre at best, and I was not expecting a studio like Brain's Base to give this kind of bad production quality that would typically be left to be dealt with by a 3rd-rate studio. Even the music is horrible, not to mention subpar theme songs with Nakuru Aitsuki and Itsuki Natsume's OP, as well as Yukimura's ED.

We've seen worse Isekai slop, and Lv999 no Murabito a.k.a The Villager of Level 999 belongs in that "fantasy lore that is totally CMI" category altogether. Even when the show clicks its gears, its exposition takes far, FAR longer than it needed to be to get its point across, resulting in a series that corporations are willing to take gambles to adapt the bare bottom of the crop.

Avoid it if you must, before your time gets wasted indefinitely.

All Works Maid – A straight man (or girl in this case) as a reincarnator with love for maids...but doing all the stereotypical hero/heroine tasks in the most bizarrely complex of ways???

It's safe to say that the fantasy genre can be anything you want, even if you have to rack up the disbelief that the Isekai subplot will always or undoubtedly find itself meshed together with the story, in more ways than one, up to the imagination. Well...the adverse effect can sometimes be true, that the premises seem simple on the surface, but dig deeper into its iceberg, and you'll find quite the complex case ... of "Who's who and whoever dunnit" in the first place. That seems to be the modus operandi for novelist Atekichi, whose last season's Kanteishi (Kari) was not just one of Spring 2026's worst anime, but it added a number to the now fledgling Isekai "Appraisal" shtick that, for more reasons than ever, just feels like legit slop to helm in yet another of the genre's mainstay: the Overpowered subplot. This Summer, adapting the latter of his 2 works, Heroine? Seijo? Iie, All Works Maid desu (Hokori)! a.k.a Heroine? Saint? No, I'm an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)! seem to be a marked improvement over the heinousness that was Kanteishi (Kari)...but however, please don't go out of your way to mark it as a good series, not just yet.

I legit don't understand why this show needs that Isekai reincarnation angle, but like most popular and subpar works that Japan somehow always has a knack for profiteering money over actual quality, it's a phenomenon that has lasted since the turn of the 2010s. Let's just leave it at that. So, what seemed like an easy-to-digest story about a reincarnator who somehow follows up to her wish to become a maid, the female MC of Melody Wave, is just that. An eager girl wanting to learn the ways of the maid from her time as a child, her ambition is strong-willed and determined to want to serve people with all her might, even going as far as to get the opportunity to fly overseas for further training. However, with Truck-kun replaced by Plane-kun with the past self dying from a plane crash, essentially two timelines occur within the same world: one from Melody's POV as her past Japanese childlike self, and the other with the setting of an otome game of the heroine, princesses, villainess and what-have-yous. What's most important for Melody to fulfill her dream amidst her past living and breathing reincarnations, becomes one heck of a puzzle for people involved in the Otome game, not realizing that the wannabe maid is at the heart of the matter despite her affluence for magic that somehow, rivals even the most talented of capable users.

Indeed, Melody Wave is just a girl who just wants to fulfill her lifelong dream, and she'll go to lengths to achieve her "All-Works Maid" name, as faithful as a nobody but ignorant and naive as somebody significant within the greater length of the world around her. Outside the Melody persona, she's actually the heroine of said Otome game as Celesty McMurdon, the seemingly poor girl belonging to a small family that isn't notable by any stretch of the imagination but living alone with her mother as if they're estranged from their father, who's a well-respected Count that tried to separate and reclaim the "family". With one wick of a family heirloom, Celesty/Melody achieves the capability to use mana at her own free will, though it's only to enhance her chances of serving her master to the nth degree, and the lifelong recipient of that is also notable...for all the wrong reasons. The House of Rudleberg isn't rich by any means, and certainly their less-than-ideal oppulence only carries the negative name of the family far and wide, which is most represented by the family's only daughter, Luciana Rudleberg. Her parents' neglect of her and even sending her to a dilapiated and run-down mansion isn't sending good vibes at all...until Melody comes around and sees her in quite the dirty state that she assumes responsibility from the get-go to help clean up Luciana's dirty streak and reinstate her position into a life of glamour and lifelong companionship.

With further digging, your experience enjoying the show comes down to one of two elements: keeping the business solely with Melody and Luciana, or the extended story that can be tough to get one's head around. For the first half of the anime, it solidifies Melody and Luciana's friendship really well, even going into the playful churning where the noble knows how to seduce the maid with her "younger than expected" vulgar and tantalizing language that shocks Melody on how could she have learnt to mention sexual innuendos beyond her age. It's girl-on-girl same-sex land for all you Yuri fans out there, and implying that this series isn't one bit Yuri, means that you're not paying attention to the show much. Just seeing the two girls interact with each other, and the series very well could've been just that, building Melody's repertoire as a maid. But I could forgive you if the story feels like it's slowly building to a head with the Otome game direction that's written for the second half, because by itself, it should be straightforward to bring in other characters into the picture, some of whom are Celesty/Melody's friends from her past life as well, trying to follow the predictable path of how the game was plotted to go. Alas, this new landscape of Melody being 2 personas in one – the maid, and the poor girl who caught magic capable enough to even defeat the Demon King (if there was even one to begin with), creates quite the dissonance with Isekai-ed friends and other people playing as main and support characters from the Otome game, but having to deduce a new timeline where they were supposed to expect Melody as the Saint heroine to finally get her head and show up, but that she was instead, elsewhere. The game works even if the story plot has been changed somewhat, but the dynamic of that execution feels like it was overdesigned, even though this is not the first time that we've experienced self-inserted Otome game-like anime that does this as well, just slightly better constructed than this. So, it's definitely a cause of quantity over quality for this one.

It's obvious to say that for every show that's produced by 3rd-rate studios, quality just doesn't count that much compared to getting the story right. And EMT Squared is one of those studios that has that unfortunate label since its creation, adapting subpar series that Japan thinks will sell like hotcakes with the anime they produce over the years. The amount of animation here is minimalistic at best, at times, you can even spot simplistic faces with distorted facial expressions, and the overall effect is just starkly below-average. Even though the music is an exercise in minimalism, if the intent was to keep it bare bones for the anime to work, then that's the job done sparingly decently. I actually quite like Melody and Luciana's OP song that lives up to their VA work, it's at least something different from the massive Anisong "wash, rinse and repeat" crowd that's worth the enjoyment alone. I could subtly say the same for Shuugo Nakamura's ED, which is fine.

If I were to be honest, All Works Maid doesn't REALLY need the Isekai subplot to make up for the lack of a story or premise, because Celesty/Melody's dream of becoming a maid of her own prestige, IS a premise in and of itself that the dream can push for some other much grander plot that I'd wager, would make for a better written story than simply adding the Isekai theme just for the sake of relevance. It's just too bad that the show, hampered by its subpar world-building and composition, is a hit-or-miss, depending on the angle that's being watched to develop a "what could've been", for better or for worse. It's even more ironic that knowing how the anime had its composition done, the Otome game structure could've been a one-off, and this anime would be far more enjoyed for its simplicity.

All-Works Maid? Looks like there's a fair bit of work to be done as a whole.

This is gonna be a weird review. As you may know, this is my first ever experience of the Ghost in the Shell franchise which is quite uncommon. The 1990s and later 2000s original adaptations of Ghost in the Shell are renowned classics in the anime sphere for how new this genre was back then. What I liked:
- Great opening song. Songs from King Gnu are always perfect for anime openings.

One of the few romance anime that provides substantial character development for the side characters! I love every couple on the show. In a world filled with high school anime, this is one of the better ones I'd say. They don't overly shove the 'polar opposites' aspect in your face, which was surprising. The differences between the 2 mc are definitely highlighted- but through character development, and not as a gimmick.

SHOUTOUT to whoever conceptualized the season 2 outro. Iconic. Obsessed. Vibes off the charts.

oh, also, Taira is the best character. fight with the wall.

I usually do not give media a 10, I do not believe in such a thing as perfect media, everything has issues, welcome to the NHK has it's issues too.

Okusama ga Seitokaichou! never tried to hide what its main objective is. From the beginning, it is very clear that the focus here is ecchi, and this OVA follows exactly the same proposal. If you went in expecting deep character development, a complex story, or some extremely elaborate romance, you're probably looking in the wrong place. Now, if you want fanservice, appealing situations and a lot of ecchi content, you can rest assured that this OVA has a lot to offer.

Will this show change your life? No. Will you most likely watch it in one sitting? YES! I was not expecting this show to be as funny as it was, it's genuinely a joy to watch. I am not even someone who is into kpop or jpop but I have been a teenage girl before so I can understand the boy band shrine culture.

A really good comedy-ecchi series.

Renai Boukun hits you right out of the gate with references, clearly drawing inspiration from Death Note, except here, we have the famous "Kiss Note." The twist is that instead of simply killing the person whose name is written in the notebook, the person listed must kiss someone within 24 hours or else they die. Just from the premise alone, you can tell this anime has absolutely no intention of being taken seriously. And honestly, I think that’s exactly what makes it so great.
